As I understand it, the Berne Convention places everything being written under copyright. What a terrible idea. Every last scrap of knowledge and culture, subjected to automatic lockdown. Yecch. I have no desire to compel anyone to not share my art with the world, so I am opting out this mad system. Instead of copyright, I'm putting everything I make under copyleft!

To make it official: whenever permitted by law, and unless clearly and explicitly stated otherwise, any and all software and other content I write is free software/free content, and you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version. My programs are distributed in the hope that they will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU General Public License for more details.

Additionally, whenever permitted by law and unless explicitly stated otherwise, all my work and content are also licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License. You are free to share (meaning to copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format) and to adapt (meaning to remix, transform, and build upon the material) for any purpose, even commercially, and I cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you follow the license terms. See the legal code for more details.

Whenever any of my work is dual-licensed, you may choose which license to follow, at your sole discretion. Please note that any source code/machine code that I write is not covered by the Creative Commons license, as such licenses are not intended to be used for software.

But perhaps you're not interested in the letter of the law. Fair enough. Legalese is boring anyway. But I expect you to follow the spirit, if not the letter. I chose those two licenses because they restore to you, the user/reader, the freedoms that are rightfully yours, so long as you respect the freedoms of everyone else. If you are honest in your dealings and you offer to everyone else the same freedoms you enjoy, then you are my friend and ally, and I will stick up for you, even if the law doesn't.

This journal is my bit of webspace, where I just post whatever suits my fancy and hope someone notices. I am a white male Latter-Day Saint, a college tutor, an aspiring artist, and more often than not, an idiot. I hope you'll bear with me.
